I have a new book shipping in January. It’s called The Cost Of Living. Its a collection of photo essays, old interviews, character profiles, short stories, movie pitches, and scenes from films that have yet to be shot. It straddles the fine line between fact and fiction. I was following a theme instead of making a book about a straight topic. A thousand copies of the book will be printed & hand numbered. There will be three covers. Expect a photo exhibit and maybe a book launch (or vice versa).

The Cost Of Living is the first project getting released on the new improved Secondhand projects. I’m designing the book with Conor Virtue, it’s our first project together. Conor designs a lot of stuff. He has a design outfit. He works with a designer called Dylan Adair. Dylan has been also been collaborating on the project.

In other news: I’ll be getting my Ken Burns on this January. I start putting together a new book about Eric San (Kid Koala) and the turntable as an instrument. The book should should be available in the fall. I spent the better part of the last 6 years on the road and in the studio with Eric and my camera. I’m kind of excited about that. I haven’t done a lot of music stuff since I stopped editing and writing for rap magazines. The book will also be released by The Secondhand Projects.

The Secondhand Projects will be releasing a few books in the near future. Other books. Books that I didn’t write, photograph or design. Books that I think matter. Books I think we all should own. Books. Books and maybe some music. Music that comes in elaborate packaging.

Ok.
More news to come.
Clear eyes.
Full hearts.

Over and out.

Paul Labonte and/or Paul(107)
